Hazmat Transport
Across Western Canada

Shipping hazardous materials demands expertise, compliance, and zero margin for error. Fortress Forwarders coordinates certified hazmat transport across Western Canada and into the United States, backed by 33+ years of freight forwarding experience and a carrier network built for high-stakes shipments.

What We Move

Hazmat transport is the movement of hazardous materials — goods classified as dangerous by Transport Canada and the U.S. Department of Transportation. These shipments require specialized handling, certified carriers, proper documentation, and strict regulatory compliance at every stage from pickup to delivery.

It’s not freight you hand to just anyone.

When do you need hazmat transport

Any shipment containing materials classified under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act in Canada or DOT hazmat regulations in the US requires certified hazmat transport. This includes everything from industrial chemicals and compressed gases to flammable liquids and corrosive materials. If your product has a Safety Data Sheet, there’s a good chance it falls under hazmat regulations.

Advantages of Working With a Hazmat-Experienced Forwarder

Full regulatory compliance

TDG, DOT, and cross-border dangerous goods regulations handled correctly from the start, so your shipment doesn’t get held, fined, or turned back at the border.

Certified carrier network

Every carrier in our hazmat network holds current dangerous goods certifications, proper insurance, and the equipment your shipment requires.

Accurate classification and documentation

Proper UN numbers, shipping names, placarding, and paperwork prepared before your freight moves. No guesswork, no gaps.

Risk reduction

The cost of getting hazmat wrong is measured in fines, shutdowns, and liability. We eliminate that risk by getting it right the first time.

Not sure if your shipment qualifies as hazmat? Contact us and we’ll help you classify it and determine the right handling requirements.

Built For IndustriEs that Ship Dangerous Goods

Hazmat transport isn’t a side service for us — it’s a core part of what we do. We work with industries where dangerous goods are part of daily operations, not an exception.

Hazmat shipping is essential for businesses that handle:

  • Industrial chemicals and solvents used in manufacturing and processing
  • Oil and gas products including fuels, drilling chemicals, and well-site materials
  • Mining supplies such as explosives, blasting agents, and processing chemicals

  • Pharmaceutical and laboratory materials requiring controlled transport
  • Construction materials like adhesives, coatings, and compressed gases
  • Agricultural chemicals including fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides

If dangerous goods are part of your supply chain, you need a forwarder who treats compliance as non-negotiable.

How Hazmat Transport Works: Simple, Transparent, Reliable

Shipping dangerous goods is more complex than standard freight — but we handle the complexity so the process feels simple on your end.

Step 1: Request Your Quote

Tell us what you’re shipping. We’ll confirm the hazmat class, UN number, proper shipping name, and any special handling requirements. If you’re unsure about classification, we’ll work through it with you.

Step 2: Documentation and Carrier Assignment

We prepare all required TDG and DOT documentation, arrange proper placarding, and assign a certified carrier with the right equipment and insurance for your specific hazmat class.

STEP 3: Pickup and Transit

Your shipment is picked up with full compliance — proper placarding, securement, and documentation on board. Real-time tracking keeps you informed, and our dispatch team monitors the load from origin to destination.

STEP 4: Delivery and Compliance Records

Your freight arrives with complete proof of delivery and compliance documentation. We maintain records for your files and follow up to confirm everything met your requirements
